This weekend includes a plethora of opens as well as three major finals to look forward to.
Ratings have been calculated for most of the accompanying races to assist in finding winners over the two nights.
I have several other projects in the pipeline, some greyhound-related, so will be having a break for a few months.
I will be back in April to cover the English Greyhound Derby as well as the Irish equivalent in August.
Bruno Berwick
On the subject of greyhound projects, I would like to contact ex-trainer Bruno Berwick, who, enthusiasts all know, won The Derby with the 16/1 outsider Salad Dodger at Wimbledon in 2014.
You can message me on ‘X’ @pwalkeranalyst or email [email protected].
Either that or pass my details on to Bruno, as any help would be appreciated. I have been in contact with Greg Cruttwell, who was Director and Writer for the recent documentary ‘Going to the Dogs.’
It is available to rent or buy on YouTube and is worth watching if you haven’t seen it yet.
Coral Essex Vase
The setback of Chelms Charmer losing out in the drawing of lots due to a dead-heat was not the end of the road for connections.
Before the semi-finals took place, Keylogues Runner and Bacardi Bullet were also withdrawn.
Their misfortune created an opportunity for Chalmer to replace the railer Bullet in trap 1, so you could say justice did prevail in the end, but unfortunately at others’ expense.
Favourites fared slightly better with Tiffield Tarquin winning the last from a quick break in a rapid 34.74 time.
Track record holder Gary The Arb had to settle for second again. Table Toppers came back to form and soon took charge early on, with New Destiny coming through to qualify, with Antigua Kestrel missing out.
The other qualifiers were Out The Blue, who always led with the favourite Silverhill Adam running on well, with the Mark Wallis kennel achieving half the field in contesting the final.
Chelms Charmer could only manage third but did deserve the chance to participate in the semi-final stage.
It is a stellar field and you can never write off New Destiny in any final.
In fact, you can make a case for every greyhound. However, the wide runner Tiffield Tarquin is capable of stealing an early lead from trap 6 again.
If so, he can make amends for his PGR Champions disappointment and come out on top.

Coral Silver Maiden
The ante-post favourite Zenith Kindy is now odds-on after a gutsy performance to beat Breffini Una.
He managed to hold the rail and the gap appeared at the right time. He is now drawn further out in trap 3, which is not ideal, but may have enough in hand to overcome the draw.
As an each-way alternative, Funky Adz is not without a chance if Kindy does not get the run of the race.

ARC Cesarewitch
‘The Empire Strikes Back as Romeo Falls in Love with the Cesare Witch at Central Park.’
You can imagine similar headlines, but forget the witticism, Romeo Empire is a serious contender and can maintain his unbeaten run in the competition.
With an unhindered run, Mongys Wild is, of course, a big danger but does not appeal at very short odds.
Deadly Disco may need a smash break to get the better of Romeo Empire, but the latter has the chance to dictate from off the front. He is therefore the selection and currently a 9/2 shot.
