Family Fun Day planned at Central Park to mark National Greyhound Week

Central Park has confirmed its plans for National Greyhound Week (1)

Central Park Stadium will celebrate National Greyhound Week this month by hosting its own family fun day on August bank holiday, with a dedicated owners night planned the day after.

The Sittingbourne venue will open its doors to families and groups of friends looking to round-off the bank holiday weekend in style on Monday, August 25, with a 10-race card starting shortly before 3pm.

And to mark the occasion, a one-off Family Bundle offer for just £10 has been launched with the ticket permitting entry for two adults and up to four children.

Owners of greyhounds which race at the track will be treated to an evening of racing and a buffet the following day in recognition of their investment to the sport with race winner presentations organised for each race.

Jon Haile, Duty Manager at Central Park Stadium, plans for both initiatives to draw crowds of people trackside.

“National Greyhound Week has been a great way for tracks across the UK to showcase our sport and celebrate everything greyhound related since its launch two years ago,” said Jon.

“Our bank holiday race day will feature 10 competitive races, and a chance for racegoers to get up close and personal to the stars of the track.“

Visitors can learn more about how greyhounds make fantastic pets in retirement too, something we’re always keen to promote with the assistance of our homing partners.

“Our Family Bundle represents great value and we encourage anyone yet to experience the thrill of live racing to get themselves trackside and help us launch our National Greyhound Week celebrations in style.”

Seven-day roadshow

Launched in 2023, National Greyhound Week showcases greyhound racing via a seven-day roadshow of events which celebrates the sport’s canine athletes, those who work across the industry plus its fans and partners.

The industry employs 7,000 people and contributes £166 million to the British economy.

Owners wishing to book in for Central Park’s owners night are asked to do so by Tuesday, August 19, to ensure greyhounds with owners in attendance can be part of the fixture’s final card.

Tickets for Central Park Stadium’s August bank holiday fixture on Monday, August 25, are available from £8 via www.centralpark-greyhounds.co.uk.

Doors open at 1.30pm, with the first of 10 live races off at 2.54pm. The final race begins at 5.43pm.
