Gone To The Dogs will be at Monmore for the finals of two big competitions sponsored by Ladbrokes.
Before that, the top three ratings for all the semi-finals have been calculated with outright betting options worthy of consideration this Saturday.
Ladbrokes Gold Cup
The first semi-final pits three heat winners as well as the promising Headford Dane who won the PGR Puppy Derby here in March.
This is the toughest qualifying race on recent form so perhaps it’s better to look elsewhere for value.
Jacktavern Chief (8/1) in the following race is underrated but when he gets it right at the boxes, he is a match for any greyhound.
Although missing his break in the heat, he managed to overhaul the talented Brindle Bully showing tremendous back straight pace.
Looking for an each-way option, the recent Pall Mall winner Gingers Prince (20/1) prefers the rail and has trap 1 in his favour.
He was runner-up to Union Rebel in his qualifying heat but that was his first recent outing at the track. He should make the final in what is now a five-runner race since Deliveroo has been withdrawn.
Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic
It’s difficult to look beyond the main contenders in the betting for the Summers Classic.
The first semi-final has drawn out five winners (including two in a dead-heat). You could argue a case for an equal distribution of winners, but I don’t expect the qualifiers in the second semi has any complaints.
Having said that, Gary The Arb (7/1) was very impressive and a repeat of that performance in trap 1 again should see him qualify off the front.
The outright favourite New Destiny is also in his race and still the one to beat.
There is little between them based on the qualifying heat but this maybe the chance for Gary to steal the limelight.
