I’m delighted to be joining the Greyhound Racing Weekly community as a regular columnist. This is a new adventure for me personally, but hopefully I’ll be able to do it justice and bring lots of information, stories and updates from my home track Hove. Here’s a little bit about myself and how my journey began in greyhound racing.
You could say it’s in the blood so to speak! I have been involved with greyhound racing from a very young age. My nan always had a small number of greyhounds in training and it was through spending time with her at every opportunity as a child – be it on weekends or holidays – that I was introduced to this wonderful breed.
Alongside my nan was her daughter Nicky Holland (my auntie ) who has pretty much been like a sister to me. So, it was only inevitable that when she and Graham (Holland) set up their training kennels, I would go on to spending all of my spare time at the weekend and in the school holidays with them.
The passion was well and truly installed in me. I spent my time helping in the kennels, learning, listening, and soaking it all in. I spent evenings at the tracks watching the runners which I enjoyed just as much as the kennels.
In time I was old enough to get my kennel hand license for Graham. I remember the feeling of parading my first greyhound! What a buzz!!
It was at the kennels that I met my now husband (Patrick Browne ) who was a kennel hand for Graham also. As we know Graham and Nicky moved to Ireland to train. I stepped away from the greyhounds for a while.
I reconnected with Patrick in my early 20’s and we have since gone on to have two wonderful children whose passion for the greyhounds is just as solid as mine was at their age. I’m a firm believer of letting the children get involved but I’ll leave that topic for a future article.
Patrick took out his training license in 2017 after much discussion. It was always going to happen with our backgrounds in the sport. Graham and Nicky gifted us our first greyhound to train as a wedding present and I can still remember Graham’s words like it was yesterday.
“Here’s your first greyhound. She’s 12 months old. Get those kennels built and your license sorted. She will be ready in a few months.”

Wow what a gesture ! We did just that. Within a few months, Adachi Kennels were born! We didn’t want to rush in straight away, so we steadily built up the kennel strength over a few years. We started with 4 greyhounds in training at Poole and have steadily increased to now 30.
We moved premises 4 years ago, with a move to Swindon, building the kennels from scratch from an unused dairy barn.
We have some wonderful owners that have supported us through everything and we wouldn’t be where we are today without them.
Our goal was always to be at Hove and we were able to make that happen around 3 years ago. From here we have grown the kennels and welcomed new owners, dogs, and staff.
Our kennels can be followed on all social media platforms under @Adachikennels.
I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with the articles and hopefully will be able to keep you updated with all the latest from Hove.
