New sponsor announced for the Greyhound of the Month Award

TIME GREYHOUND NUTRITION, the greyhound feed supplier, are the new sponsors of the Greyhound of the Month award in the UK – and six nominations have been announced for January.

Pape Di Oro receives his nomination on the back of his Coral Silver Maiden (Cat 2) triumph. Having scraped through the heats, S Roberts’ 2-year-old brindle and white never put a step wrong after that. In the final, ‘the golden pope’ ran through the lids to win by a convincing 5 1/2 lengths.

Romeo Command receives his nomination for Patrick Janssens after finishing second by a neck to Signet Goofy in the Blue Riband at Towcester. His unbeaten run to the final included a 4 1/4 demolition of Swift Iconic in the semi-final.

The third nomination is David Mullins’ precocious puppy, Romeo Cypher. Despite an indifferent run in the heats, Cypher stormed back to win both his heat and the final of the BGBF Puppy Cup, recording a new track record in the process.

Next on the nomination’s board is Garfiney Blaze, Mark Wallis’ brilliant Cesarewitch winner. Blaze won all 3 rounds, setting a new track record for the 731m Central Park trip.

Roxys Bullet fired onto the shortlist when he made all to take the Coral Essex Vase at Romford for Paul Burr. The Vase was a hot renewal this year in which John Mullins’ Aayamza Sydney could only manage second behind the nominee.

John Mullins’ wide running Signet Goofy is included on the list of nominations after remaining unbeaten throughout the Blue Riband at Towcester, beating Romeo Command and Newinn Syd in the process.
