GBGB remain tight-lipped as Irish courts investigate potential court order breach

The Greyhound Board of Great Britain has remained tight-lipped in relation to an alleged breach of a court order banning MWD business partner Mike Davis’ life partner, Michelle Connolly from owning, keeping, or breeding dogs until 2032.

The Greyhound Board of Great Britain has remained tight-lipped in relation to an alleged breach of a reported court order banning MWD business partner Mike Davis’ life partner, Michelle Connolly from owning, keeping, or breeding dogs until 2032.

In a brief statement, the GBGB stated “We are aware of the situation, and it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

It is reported that, after Connolly pleaded guilty to a number of welfare offences in 2019, she continued to race greyhounds at Irish tracks. Connolly is now closely linked to the MWD Partnership through her partner, Mike Davis.

MWD partner, champion trainer Mark Wallis, was resolute in his support of Connolly, “There is obviously more to the incident than meets the eye and the different parts of the order contradict themselves.

“There were no concerns raised with any of the other dogs or animals on her property at the time in 2019, which also included some greyhounds.”

In relation to Connolly’s involvement with greyhounds at MWD, Wallis was quick to praise her devotion to the sport. “Although she has no ownership of any greyhounds, she is involved in sourcing greyhounds and is devoted to the sport, attending the races to support our greyhounds whenever she can.”

Wallis indicated that there is ongoing action being taken by Connolly regarding the court order but for obvious reasons he was unable to comment about the specifics.

In contrast to the outcome of the reported court order, Wallis commended Connelly’s consideration of animal welfare.

“Knowing Michelle as I do, she is hugely considerate of animal welfare and owns many other animals which are all in first-class condition, She has been around animals all of her life and understands what it takes to look after them.”
