We are delighted to announce that Samantha Bonner has joined us as a regular columnist and feature writer at Greyhound Weekly. Samantha is Assistant Trainer to Vicki Lea and an owner in her own right. Here’s a short introduction from Samantha herself.
I’ve been in the greyhound world for as long back as I can remember. I recall my earliest days racing at Hinckley, Warwick, Askern and many more of the old classic flapping tracks!
Greyhounds have always been a prominent part in my life and they always will be.

Having many greyhounds through the years, I own my greyhounds now and also run my own syndicate, “Ohana Racing Syndicate”.
My life with greyhounds has always been family orientated. Starting with my mum (Helen) and dad (Steve Lapidge), then in the latter years with my dad and his partner (Vicki Lea).
We have been at our kennels “ Hawksbury Racing Kennels” for over 20 years now, starting with just 8 double kennels to now building 2 new kennel blocks to accommodate our additions through the years.

As many of you know I was on Kidney Dialysis for 7 and a half years and I thankfully got a donor kidney on the 15th May this year! Spending 12 weeks out of the game and in hospital was extremely tough as the dogs are my world, and I suppose knowing I would be back with them was what helped me through it all.
I saw a chance to join Greyhound Racing Weekly and it was an opportunity not to be missed!!
My main focus will be on the Graded Racing scene “Runners/trainers/Kennel hands/Performances” but also touching on other subjects each month.
I hope you all enjoy this read so far and I hope to keep you all entertained and keep the greyhound world running!!
