After a career spanning 61 races that culminated in 32 victories, 4 of which were Category One’s and a Select Stakes, Brookside Richie’s stud career has started with a superb litter of 5.

The top rated son of Droopys Sydney x Droopys Greatest was mated to Irenes Hope, a full sister to another Fenwick trained superstar, Ice On Fire. A speedy sort herself with 28.77 clocked at Newcastle in her racing days, you’d certainly be hoping ‘the kids’ could run a bit! A strong litter consisting of 4 bitches and 1 dog are reported to be in rude health by trainer/breeder Jimmy Fenwick.

He had this to say, “They’re really nice pups. They’re a good size. He’s been at stud since January now and mated 3 bitches. The first was False Alarm. She had 2 bitches by caesarean. Sadly, the pups didn’t survive the procedure. Irene was the second of the bitches to be mated and Afton Pixie for Jimmy Gaskin is due to have had hers now. Jimmy said she’s very heavy. Dilly Dilly of ours is also due to be mated. There’s been a lot of interest from breeders across the UK and they’re just waiting for their bitches to come in season now. We have discussed taking straws for breeders in Ireland and Europe, we will do that, so that’s a requirement we can meet.”

British breeding, and standing stud dogs is most difficult at the best of times, none know more so than our very own Phil Milner who recently sent Droopys Addition to the Droopys stud to give him the best possible chance. Richie though, will very much be staying on British soil, and anybody that wishes to use him are reminded they can contact Jimmy Fenwick on 07854 117366. He’s priced at £500.
