Friday’s top class action

As the PGR Classic reaches the semi-final stage, the action continues tonight in Sunderland. David Mullins’ brindle, Brindle Bully, will be hoping to make it 8 wins-in-a-row from Trap 6 in SF 3. Crowd favourite, Links Maverick goes for Tom Heilbron in SF 2.

Saturday’s racing

The Irish Derby enters the quarter-final stage on Saturday night at Shelbourne Park. In addition to the four semi-finals (previewed here) the meeting features the Gourmet Island Puppy Oaks and the Michael Fortune Memorial Derby Plate.

Sunday’s top class greyhound action

Crayford has some top greyhound races to watch this Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Ladbrokes Grand National also kicks off at Crayford on Sunday evening. 24 greyhounds go to traps for the first round with the Ladbrokes Champion Hurdle winner Nunhead Shiv lining up in Heat 3. Last year’s winner, Coppice Fox takes his chance again in Heat 4.

In a bumper meeting, the Jay and Kay Coach Tours Gold Collar also gets underway. Three-steps winner, Queen Georgia goes in Heat 1 and wears the blue jacket for Liz McNair. Nathan Hunt’s Oaks runner-up, Icemans Girl, will be glad that Druids Say Go hasn’t travelled to Crayford and she could be the pick in Heat 2.

At Towcester, the English Puppy Derby kicks off with lids up for Heat 1 at 1.57. Last year’s winner was King Memphis. This year, Liz McNair returns with three new ‘Kings’, King Iggy, King Jackson and King Pavarotti.
