Darren Whitton has secured the inaugural Greyhound Weekly Graded Trainer championship at Crayford today.

Whitton had 296 winners from 1368 runners with a win rate of 21.6 percent, earning him a 64 point bonus. A final points tally of 360 points was enough to see off the challenge of Julie Luckhurst, who finished runner-up with 328 points, amassing 269 wins over the year.

Back in third, Kerry Daly finished 1 point shy of 300 points with 255 winners and a bonus of 44 for a total of 299 points.

Among Whitton’s standout performers were Lissatouk Blake (10 wins), Moaning Sampras (11 wins), and Moaning Zoff (11 wins), who went through the grades impressively between April and November in arguably one of the training achievements of the year.

A treble at Friday’s meeting ended the year nicely for Whitton with wins for Huntsman, Moaning Clyde, and Moaning Viera.

Julie Luckhurst secured the inaugural Crayford Greyhound Weekly Win Rate championship with 22.0 percent. Darren Whitton took second on 21.6 with Jean Liles back in third place.
