Graded performance of the week

Samantha Bonner picks out two performances that have caught her eye this week. The first is an improving young sprinter at Central Park who is in great form. The other is a gamble landed at Doncaster.

Graded Performance “Greener Pastures”

It’s been a long week of watching a lot of Graded races, looking at dogs form and much more!

A couple of ‘Greys’ have stood out to me who I’d like to mention.

The first one being “Greener Pastures” who runs at Central Park, trained by Mick Mavrias. He’s on a great winning streak: winning 5 in a row!!

Greener Pastures

Winning D3, D2, D1 D1 D1!

Mick Mavrias dog who’s owned by Thorntons Racing Thrill is definitely giving them thrills at the moment as he certainly is in fine order!

After 12 races in England and just 1 victory, Greener Pastures’ starting prices had been on the drift. Even in D3 sprints, where his odds were as big as 10/1 in August, there were few signs of the improvement to come. However, a relatively brisk 16.71 (Chester Rating: 66) on 19th September might have hinted at what this July ’21 black dog, sired by Broadstrand Bono, out of Olwinn Queen, was capable of.

Greener Pastures has won out of all 3 of the outside boxes and with 3 wins on the spin in D1, he may be open to further improvement.

!!Gamble Landed at Doncaster!!

On a cold Wednesday night, the temperatures were rising on the horizon of the 19.56 A2 race at Doncaster.

In the space of just “2 Minutes” there was a huge gamble on the white jacket of “Greenwell Mila” who’s owned by Mr C Mottoram and trained by “Debbie Calvert”

Starting off at chunky odds of 8/1 and rocketing in to 2/1…. The gamble was on!!

Greenwell Mila takes control at the first bend before landing the gamble for Debbie Calvert.

I’ll be back next week with my pick of this week’s Graded racing.
