Greyhound Weekly writer Peter Walker takes a look at three open competitions and provides analysis for them all.
Coral Coronation Cup
This category one competition starts with last year’s winner and track record holder New Destiny best-priced at 11/4 in the ante post outright market.
She will take all the beating but at this stage looking for alternatives that are proven over the six bends at Romford, the bitches Droopys Rosie (20/1) and Hogans Hawk (8/1) fit the criteria.
Several entries are untried over the track and distance so maybe a watching brief on them at this stage.
ARC Puppy Trophy
Two other competitions are already at the semi-final stage with the ARC Puppy Trophy down to the last 12.
The Irish raider Slingshot Poppy (6/4) made a terrific start without even a trial and sets a very high standard.
She was chased home by Greenwell Tyson (12/1) and with three to qualify should also make the final at a decent each-way price.
ARC Kent Silver Salver
This two-bend event at Central Park is packed with quality sprinters and with only two to qualify leaves little room for error.
The analysis now includes a combined first and second-bend rating based on their relative positions during the heats in the absence of a sectional time.
At the head of both is Ballinakill Liam who has established an impressive strike-rate and a worthy favourite at 11/4.
A big outsider is Mickys Tribute (66/1) who did well to get the better of the odds-on chance Tullymurry Dylan after relinquishing the lead around the half-way point.
He could qualify and the likelihood of without any railers in the final, the route to the winning line may become very congested.
